Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir lauded the close ties and cooperation between his country and Iran.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Speaking to us on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit here in Tehran on Thursday, the Sudanese President said the relations between the two countries are "excellent".

"The relations between the two countries are in their best form," Bashir reiterated.

Iran and Sudan have increased their mutual cooperation in various fields in recent years.

During his visit to Sudan late in September 2011, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad lauded the close ties between Tehran and Khartoum, and underlined that the two countries are resolved to boost mutual cooperation with no limit or boundary.

Addressing a meeting between high-ranking delegations from Iran and Sudan at the time, Ahmadinejad described the two countries' ties as "brotherly, deep and stable", and noted, "Having a deep and shared understanding of the current historical juncture and developments, the two countries are seeking to increase their cooperation at all levels and without any restrictions."
